"EVENTS THAT ALSO HAVE A COMMITMENT TO PROVIDING A PLATFORM FOR MUM/FEMALE LED BUSINESSES - OR AT LEAST THOSE THAT CHAMPION THEM"

MRS. OT

WANT TO JOIN THE MOVEMENT?

OUR INBOX IS ALWAYS OPEN FOR NEW PROPOSALS, IDEAS AND APPLICATIONS RELATED TO THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

Industry Professionals are paid roles that are usually the pinnacle of the itineraries; the 'headliners' if you will. We are always looking for new ideas and initiatives to add to our agenda that align with our core values.Talks, Workshops, Entertainment, Therapy, Classes, Performances, Experiences… the list is infinite; on the proviso that it has our mums at the heart of it all.

Please read our list of requirements below before applying.

Who We Are/Aren't
  • + Events must be inclusive to all generations, ages and stages of motherhood, and must not be soleley antenatal/postnatal specific.
...the market is already bursting with events surrounding the pregnant/mat leave timelines (and we are huge fans) but The Retreat has a very different focus and ethos. We are looking at motherhood as a full spectrum, thus recognising the need for community and support of maternal mental health being invaluable at every stop of the 'mama train', so here we are, doing just that. See the I AM MAMA campaign for our definition(s) of motherhood.
  • + We believe in fair remuneration for all paid contributors - but, also, the importance of financial accessibility to guests & clients.
.. this is reflected in all our contributor rates, fees and ticket pricing - where we endeavour to find the perfect balance of both.
  • + Our events don't include children.
... it doesn't mean we don't adore them (we do!) but our sessions are designed to indulge in the true - and rare - beauty of solitude. We allll know our attention is split when our little people are there, and we also know how negligible time we get to indulge in ourselves, so facilitating that is our utmost priority. There are also a whole wealth of mum + baby/child friendly events already out there, it's just not our format. The focus is on you. (Although there is the exception of mums and daughters-who-are-also-mums attending together, which we think is pretty cool!).
  • + We don't host classes with a fitness/yoga, physical/dietary health, or weight loss focus.
... our disdain for the 'snap back' culture - see also: society's obsession with getting back into a previous jean size - is no secret within our community. Also, whilst it may be controversial, with a market already inundated with the aforementioned classes and topics, we, instead, strive to provide the balance and antithesis.
  • + We don't host classes/events with any religious or political undertones.
..we've had our fill from numerous family dinner parties over the years, and we all know how it ends, don't we(!).
  • + We are here to complement the market, not compete.
... The Retreat was created by Kate - Mrs. OT - because it was something she needed for herself but couldn't find in the format she has since curated. It was, and will continue to be, designed with sensitivity to established brands of a similar nature and we are proud to contribute to the industry, not override it. With this in mind, we are strongly aligned with the value of women supporting women, and mums supporting mums, so are always open to ways of working alongside other companies and businesses in our category, in the interests of championing each other and, together, providing the full spectrum of support that mothers need, and deserve.
